I've asked several of the larger retailers across Canada whether they have any Nikon 17-35mm f/2.8 lenses in stock. They all have similar responses, saying that they don't, and they also don't know whether they'll be getting anymore from Nikon Canada. I've heard rumours of this lens being discontinued. Is this actually the case? And does anyone know of any Nikon Canada dealer that still has this lens in stock?

I called Nikon Canada about one the other day and I was told they no longer carry it. Its been discontinued

Yeah, they are a good retailer, but their stock / availability is not always updated online. They don't tend to keep low volume items in stock, so I would doubt it.

A replacement is unlikely to be available anytime soon, as the 17-35 is NOT out of production. Low volume countries like Canada stop carrying low volume items like the 17-35 for business reasons, but the 17-35 is still officially carried by the US and other major markets.

This was one of the retailers that I contacted. No stock, and not getting any more
