p.1 #1 · Curves - Does it work?

Good Afternoon All,

I have a goal this year of developing a portfolio of images since I started shooting (only a couple of years). As part of the process I am reviewing through older images, and find things that may have been overlooked before.

I would be interested in any thoughts on the below image (either version)...I have thick skin, so if it needs to be sent back to the trench so be it...

Thanks for your time...

Don't send anywhere but to the printer!
I prefer the warmer tones of the 1st, by a small bit. Terrific, almost sensuous curves!!

Love both of these, Derek; lovely textures, colours - and curves.

Definitely not back to the trench for these. The light in the first one is great.

Pierre.

Thanks SEJohnson83 - I appreciate the feedback and compliment.

Jeffrey - Yes, they are the same image. Only difference is the second image has a "dreamy" action I found on the web a while ago...When I applied the action, I wasn't sure if it worked, as I like the others like the warmth of the first - But yet there was something about the tonality of the second.

I like the first one. My first look gave me a thought of an intrigue brush stroke, very cool
image!!!

Both are great. Not sure I can pick. Might be a good dyglph...or the word for side by side...anyway. Very awesome.

I'm a fan of colors, so the first one will get my vote. But I can see the interest in #2. #1 just has a feel of molten lava somehow, rising up, it looks very alive. Very nice composition, well seen.

Hey Derek,

I like the first one a lot. The angle of the shot is interesting though, I can feel myself falling off it... I do think that adds to the abstract quality of it.
