do you really shoot professionally at 1,600ISO with a 5D with no lighting at all?

You'll find the majority of wedding shooters doing this all the time.

Just shot a wedding this weekend and alott of shots were at 1,600ISO on the 5D with a 70-200 2.8 on the end of it. If I had pictures with me I would post them. Just thought I would back up the comment.

Yup, me too, ceremonys and receptions I tend to be stuck at ISO1600 sucking as much light as possible out of the surroundings.

What's WRONG with me?? I maybe used higher than 400 about a dozen times. Must be residual from the film days...

Only because I don't want the e-mail notices.

Although I absolutely love my 5D, I actually have consider (for a short period of time), selling the 5D and purchasing a second hand 1Ds2. But the more and more I thought about it, the more I realized that I don't NEED the higher resolution of the 1Ds2. Most of the photo's hanging in my room are 11x18, along with custom panoramas. But the panoramas range anywhere from 3-10 images stitched together, which give me extra resolution to work with when cropping. I would really love to try out a 1Ds2 for a long weekend or whatnot. I came to the 5D from the 1D2, so I know what I would be getting from a 1-series body. But I'm definitely content with my 5D.

5D if you need high iso, 1Ds if you need the weather proofing and 45pt AF.

So everyone else already subscribed gets one and comes looking at the thread, because you don't want them ... Why not just bookmark it, save it to Evernote, or something, then?

It's going to be interesting to see the weight difference between a gripped 5DMKii and a 1-series.

Unless I missed it, there's nothing specified in the forum rules that says posting for reference is prohibited or discouraged. I know I don't come a'runnin' every time a subscribed thread of mine lights up. Sorry for your trouble, in any case. I hope you found something useful otherwise on the thread beyond my apparently selfish reference post.

Having both I can say that I like the 1Ds more. It has a nicer viewfinder, better build and better AF. Also it doesn't have any mirror clearing issues. On the other hand the 5D is lighter and has better high iso. I am an amateur so I actually like the noise of the 1Ds. Makes photos look less digital.
