I was very pleased to come away with some good shots for a friend of mine when I offered to take photos for his wedding invitations. It was my first time taking portraits. Also big thanks go to the posters in the People Photography forum who helped make recommendations for cropping and improvement in the future.
No flash, and the best shots of the day were when I kept snapping away before they "finished" posing. They hadn't quite settled into this pose yet, and it was the winner of the day:
Hey all! First post here. I have a D300, a Nikkor 18-55 'kit' lens and a 55-200 Quantaray. I was understandably broke after I bought my D300 (first DSLR) so I don't have any nice glass yet. I also don't have an external flash or tripod. Someday soon hopefully for the last 2 things! Here are some recent shots. I'm still new at this. C&C appreciated! Hopefully the pictures will post right.
Saved a baby bird that had fallen out of its nest. Took this with one hand..not easy with that hunk of gear 18-55mm f/8 1/125 ISO 200
I would post some more pictures - but I realize since yesterday that all my shots are no good now. I'm patiently waiting for my D700 so I can post again. I mean .... It's a great thread ... and I feel terrible that my shots have all expired.
I see that many of you must have gotten the D700 early. I hate that. Except that self portrait of Francois of course.
