Looks great R.H. Johnson

Just to inform you guys, I've received the Skyguider Pro.

First outing was a fail because I forgot about the RA clutch that needs to be fastened.

I was out there for 2 hours and cursing constantly, because the dec bracket with camera and counterweight could be rotated freely. The tracker didn't track at all..

I hope I didn't break anything because sometimes it produced strange sounds

At least I got some usable results in the end (balancing the camera and counterweight freely without fixing the clutch!)

These images were captured 3km outside the city centre of Bern, our capitol:

I didn't know that "OK" would enable exposure preview on the D810, so my screen was black all the time, except for my focusing attempt on the city lights..

The Milky Way at 30mm

And at 15mm, a lucky strike with the composition

I had the camera in jpg mode only (must've toggled it back after setting it up the week before) so didn't edit these images at all.

Unfortunately, there won't be an other opportunity to test the rig before we're off to Norway in 3 weeks. Unless the sky is clear in two weeks over the weekend.

Take-Home messages:
RTFM!!! The thing about the RA clutch wasn't hidden anywhere...

Get an assistant to do the polar alignment, since it's a pita with glasses and crouching down... Have a 90 angled camera finder but couldn't figure out how to fasten it to the scope yet..

The Tamron is AMAZING! There's not the slightest amount of coma or astigmatism visible!

. Looks like you did all right in the end.
Nice sharp stars.
If you can't get out for further practice, just assembling, running, and disassembling the unit can help.
