As always, some great stuff here. For some reason I keep forgetting to post here once in a while, so here are a few recent shots:
Most of my neighbors consider junk cars and old couches the ideal lawn ornament. This fellow breaks with this well-known rural tradition by decorating his mailbox with flowers.
1940’s gas station attendant at re-enactment:
German infantry platoon before the battle:
Scottish WWII soldiers in camp:
10st Airborne gun Jeeps:
A few mid-summer wildflowers in the uplands – looking a bit like 4th of July fireworks.
Chase overlooking the uplands in the heat and steam moments before a late-July thunderstorm. By November this area will look very different. Life and death dramas will play out here.
On a hot, humid day, Joy about to swim in a cold, deep little mountain lake by my house:
Lonely 1916 one-room schoolhouse in the valley of the creek that runs around “my” mountain. I’d guess that most of the scientists who sent the first man to the moon graduated from schools like this.
Thanks for looking!
